Bridgeport Main Street Manager Angie Tyson has also resigned from her position in order to take a job as a marketer for Angel Care Home Health Services.
"Jobs like this, by their very nature, require a lot of after hours activity. With my family, it just became evident that I needed to make a change to meet their needs," Tyson said. "The city of Bridgeport is a very family-friendly atmosphere, and this job has been more satisfying than I can say. It just became time to find something that was more flexible for my family. I'm grateful that I found something that I feel provides a service for people."
Tyson praised the volunteers, merchants and community for helping the Main Street program, which began in 2005.
"The volunteers and merchants have made the Main Street program strong and viable," she said. "This program belongs to the community. It doesn't belong to one person; it belongs to the volunteers and the merchants."
Tyson has held the position since November 2005. Her last day will be Wednesday, Nov. 18.
