Bonds, amendments on Tuesday ballot

The ballot includes 11 amendments to the Texas Constitution and school bond issues in Bridgeport and Decatur.

Early vote totals included 1,488 through 5 p.m. Friday, according to Wise County Elections Administrator Lannie Noble. Early voting ended Friday night after the Messenger's press deadline.

Bridgeport ISD Bond

Proposition 1

Prop. 1 includes $15 million to build and modify facilities at the high school and intermediate school. At the high school, the bond would be used for 10 new classrooms, four new science labs, expanded seating in the cafeteria, a new band hall, converting the old band hall to athletic dressing rooms, building a new gym/special events center that will seat up to 1,480 people and replacement of HVAC units.

At the intermediate school, bond money would be used for 10 new classrooms, a new physical education building and reconfiguration of the student drop-off/pick-up area.

Proposition 2

The second proposition includes $7 million for technology upgrades to the district. It would provide all students in grades six through 12 with computers and will create laptop labs for students in grades pre-K through five.

Decatur ISD Bond

The $8 million bond package proposed by the Decatur school district would address maintenance, safety and energy efficiency needs districtwide, including the following:

High school - locks and access control, additional parking lot

Middle school - locks and access control, HVAC system and boiler, doors and hardware replacements, paving, painting, bleacher replacement, landscaping

Intermediate school - lighting, classroom painting, paving, restroom renovations, carpet

Rann and Carson elementary schools - painting and restoration

Support services building - door and window replacements, locks and access control, exterior painting and plastering, rock retaining wall repair

Multipurpose building - roof repair, HVAC

Eagle Stadium renovations - artificial turf, concession stand and restrooms, fencing and general grounds upgrade, north parking lot and sidewalks, fire lane
