Wise County cities continued to take a hit on sales tax revenue as every city in the county, except two, felt a decline in their June rebate check from the state comptroller.
Only Alvord and Lake Bridgeport earned more than at this time last year, but the two cities are still down for the year.
Decatur led in rebates, with $272,356 but trails Bridgeport for the year.
Decatur's June rebate was 7 percent less than June 2008. For the year, Decatur is up 3 percent at $282,635.
Bridgeport earned $231,314, down 43 percent from June last year.
Bridgeport is down 17 percent for the year, at $2,188,600.
Wise County received $300,551 in June, down 29 percent from this time a year ago. The county's year-to-date total of more than $2.3 million is down 4 percent from last year.
The city of Chico had the biggest percentage drop in sales tax, a 57 percent decline at $27,632.
Chico earned $64,299 this time last year. Chico is down 8 percent for the year.
The state distributed $297 million to Texas cities, down 3 percent compared to June 2008.
Texas counties received sales tax payments of $26 million, down 7 percent compared to last year.
June's sales tax allocations represent sales that occurred in April.
