Every other city's rebates reflected a decline in sales, most of them double-digit declines.
Decatur earned $255,619 in rebates, up 8 percent over April 2008. For the year, Decatur is up 9 percent, at almost $1.3 million.
Bridgeport, which has consistently been the leader in sales tax rebates for more than a year, earned $241,536, down 28 percent from April 2008. Bridgeport has received $1.3 million so far this year, down 6 percent from this time a year ago.
Aurora is down 59 percent in April, followed by Chico, minus-52, Boyd, minus-41 and Lake Bridgeport, minus-30 percent.
Statewide, rebates are down almost 2 percent compared to a year ago. County sales tax allocations are 5.7 percent higher than last year. Wise County's share, $333,468, is down 10 percent from a year ago.
