"A Hint of Artistry," an exhibit of the legendary western leather works of the late Buddie Foster, will be featured at an open house on Saturday, Nov. 7, at The Western Heritage Gallery in Denton.
Foster, the grandson of Frank Leddy, founder of the famed Leddy's in the Fort Worth Stockyards in 1941, owned Buddie's Saddle Shop in Decatur.
Buddie was best known for his spur leathers, belts and fancy chaps. Over his career, he also built custom saddles. He was a good friend of Bill Adamson of Colorado, one of the most sought-after spur makers today.
Adamson will be at the open house to discuss Foster's work and to display his spurs.
Foster was killed in an auto accident in 2006.
He is survived by his children, Leddy, Meghan and Kattie Foster. He also has family in Slidell.
The public is invited to bring old or new western items to be evaluated by members of the National Bit Spur & Saddle Collectors Association.
One of the largest collections of Native American Fur Trade Silver will be on exhibit.
The gallery will serve chili, drinks and sweets throughout the day. The gallery is located on North I-35 in the Stonehill Shopping Center in Denton.
