| Auto registrations increase in July |

| Thanks to the federal Cash for Clunkers program, Wise County auto registrations picked up in July. |
The office of county tax assessor/collector Monte Shaw registered 226 new and 99 used vehicles during the month, compared to 189 new and 76 used in June.
A breakdown among the county's three new car dealerships shows James Wood Motors, 159 new and 63 used; Karl Klement Ford, 28 new and 22 used; and Karl Klement Chrysler Dodge Jeep, 39 new and 14 used.
Chevrolet continued to be the most popular brand in the county. Wood sold 49 Chevy trucks and 20 Chevy cars during the month. He also sold 16 Hyundai cars and six Hyundai trucks. Other car sales included Buick, 11; Pontiac, 14; Ford, 5; Chrysler, 2; and Dodge, 7.
In addition to the Chevrolets, truck sales include GMC, 43, Ford, 23; Dodge, 16; and Jeep, 5.
GMAC led the way in financing, with 41 loans. First State Banks in Wise County followed with 23. Others included DATCU Credit Union, 15; Ford Motor Credit, 11; First Financial, 10; Hyundai Motor Finance, 5; Wells Fargo, 3; Legend Bank Decatur, 2; and North Texas Bank, The Community Bank and Woodhaven National Bank, 1 each.
