Auto sales continue decline

Wise County's three new car dealerships sold 129 vehicles during February, down from the 199 sold in February 2007 and from the 149 sold in January this year.

James Wood Motors sold 97 new vehicles during the month, Karl Klement Ford sold 8 and Klement Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep sold 24.

Used car registrations in the office of County Tax Collector Monte Shaw showed James Wood selling 200 used vehicles in February. Klement CDJ sold 22 used vehicles and Klement Ford sold 22.

Chevrolet led all brands sold with 61, followed by GMC, 21; Dodge, 18; Ford, 8; Pontiac, 6; and three each for Buick, Chrysler, Jeep and Hyundai.

First State Banks provided loans for 24 vehicle customers, followed by First Financial Banks, 17; GMAC, 13; Chrysler Financial, 12; DATCU, 10; Ford Credit, eight; Community Bank, five; North Texas Bank, four; Legend/Decatur and Wells Fargo, Legend/Alvord, two each; and First National Bank Jacksboro/Runaway Bay and Woodhaven in Rhome, one each.
