PLANE MAKES HARD LANDING - A twin-engine plane made a hard landing Tuesday morning at the Decatur Airport. Decatur police chief Rex Hoskins said the landing happened around 10 a.m. The pilot, Ken Keefer, 59, of Trophy Club and his wife, Patricia, 59, were not injured. Hoskins said the plane was approaching the runway from the north, and the landing gear did not go down, resulting in a belly landing on the runway. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.

RHOME PIONEER DAYS - Rhome Pioneer Days benefiting the Rhome Volunteer Fire Department is June 12-13 on Main Street. A street dance and live entertainment will be Friday night followed by entertainment, food, vendors, an auction and lots of fun on Saturday.

FISHING DERBY - The 2009 Kids All-American Fishing Derby at Black Creek Lake on the LBJ National Grasslands was to be Saturday, June 13. Fishing is 8 to 11 a.m. with prizes awarded 11:30 to noon. On-site registration is at 7:30 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for various contests in three age groups. Free hot dogs and drinks will be available. The annual event is sponsored by the Decatur Rotary Club, the U.S. Forest Service and corporate sponsors.

ALVORD PIONEER DAYS - The Alvord Pioneer Days festival was to be Saturday, June 13.

BARBECUE SUPPER - The annual Chico Community Volunteer Fire Department barbecue supper was to be 5 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the fire hall, 105 N. Weatherford St. Meals are $7 for 12 and over, $4 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children 5 and under. Proceeds go toward maintenance and operation of the fire hall and vehicles.

FVFD FUNDRAISER - The Forestburg Volunteer Fire Department's annual fundraiser was to be Saturday, June 13, at the Forestburg School. A barbecue meal is at 5:30 p.m. and an auction is at 6:30. Meal cost is $10 per plate and $6 for children 12 and under.

ANGEL FOOD - Angel Food Ministries orders through Crossroads Church in Decatur are due by 11 a.m. Sunday, June 14. The basic box is $30. CEMETERY HOMECOMING - The Garvin Cemetery Association's annual homecoming and lunch will be at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 14, at the covered pavilion adjacent to the cemetery. CASA FUNDRAISER - The CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) fundraiser is 7 p.m. to midnight Friday, June 19, at Ruben's Ballroom. The J.D. Clark and Ed Burleson Bands will perform. CHISHOLM TRAIL DAYS - Decatur's annual Chisholm Trail Days is 2 to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 20, downtown. The event includes a chuck wagon exhibition, petting zoo, fun jump, train rides, pony rides and pictures, hay ride, stagecoach rides, kids' games and activities, artisans, western handcrafts and pioneer vendors and booths, an old-fashioned ice cream contest, gunfights, kids' stick horse rodeo, fiddle competition, hamburger supper, a street dance and live music and entertainment throughout the event. 5K RUN - Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is recruiting 50 team captains from across Wise County to form teams to run/walk for children in the first Speak Up For Kids 5K Race. The race will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 20, in conjunction with Chisholm Trail Days in downtown Decatur. Adults run for $20 and children 12 and under run for $15. Late registration is $20 for adults and $25 for children.
