Rebecca Simpson of Bridgeport was
back in jail Wednesday, briefly, in Tarrant County on
a charge of solicitation of capital murder.
According to Christy Jack, an assistant
district attorney for Tarrant County, Simpson surrendered
herself to authorities in Tarrant County Wednesday and
was then released after posting $100,000 bail.
Simpson is accused of trying to hire
a man to kill Bridgeport resident Shemane Watts. She
was originally arrested last November in Wise County
and released on bail a few weeks later.
Because the alleged solicitation took
place in a parking lot of a business in Tarrant County,
the case was sent to a grand jury in Tarrant County.
Simpson was indicted earlier this year.
A new warrant on the original charge was issued for
Simpson since the case is now in Tarrant County.
Jack, the prosecutor in the case,
said she will ask for more bond conditions at Simpson’s
next court appearance.
No trial date has been set.
