Judy McCandless died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, at her home near Decatur.

Memorials may be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, DFW Division, P.O. Box 3092, Coppell, Texas 75019.

The Wise County Messenger has been chronicling the last chapter of McCandless’ life as she battled ovarian cancer.

The purpose of this Web site is to allow readers a glimpse of how one Wise County resident and her loved ones have dealt with the dying process and now death.

We hope her story will raise awareness about ovarian cancer and the need for early detection.

This site will feature stories in an occasional series that are being published in the newspaper as well as additional photos, a guestbook that will allow you to write a note to Judy’s family and links to cancer-related sites.
