Candidate Profiles:
DAVID SHAWN (R)
Candidate for Constable Precinct 4
WCMessenger

Why did you decide to seek this office?

During my many years here in Wise County, I have always tried to be a working partner in its growth and development. The constable office is another step in this process. More importantly, I believe I have the right background and qualification this office demands.

Please identify a major issue dealing with the position you are seeking and your solutions or views about this issue.

I think the first and foremost issue for the next Constable is being a constant presence throughout his precinct. I soundly believe this is the best way to prevent certain crimes from ever happening. Also by reducing the amount of crimes, it will take a great load off our investigators shoulders, thereby giving them more time to effectively investigate other crimes.

What experience qualifies you to serve in the position you seek?

Among other qualifications, I believe that a Constable, like any other public servant must be a "people person". During my many years in private business, municipal supervision and the time I have spent as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff in the civil process division, I have dealt with one on one with people from all walks of life and from all stations in life. Over the years I have learned that you can be a true professional, while at the same time offer understanding and sympathy for those who are experiencing some type of personal dilemma.

If elected, what will be your most important goal?

I have several objectives if elected as Precinct 4's next Constable. First of all I will strive to make the Constable office one of easy and constant accessibility. I will create a working relationship between citizens and all Wise County Law Enforcement personal by further enhancing the crime watch prevention program. And lastly I want it to become common knowledge to all those that would prey upon our rural communities because of their remoteness that Precinct 4 is not a good place to '"set-up shop".
