Candidate Profiles:
DOUG PARR (R)
Candidate for Constable Precinct 3
WCMessenger

Doug ParrWhy did you decide to seek this office?

I grew up in Wise County and have called it my home for the majority of my life. This is home to my family and many friends. My wife and I chose to move our family back to Wise County because we wanted to raise our children where we grew up instead of the Metroplex. Therefore, it is extremely important to me, as it is for many of our citizens, that we work together to make our community a safe place to live and to raise our children. As our county continues to grow and the faces of our community change, we must have and maintain quality public services that are consistent and responsive to the needs of our residents. These public services are essential in order to maintain quality of life standards and safety in our communities. As Constable, I will be committed to being available to and interacting with our citizens and businesses on a daily basis. I will work closely with all county, state, and municipal law enforcement agencies in order to better serve our precinct. I will do my best to provide the citizens and businesses of Precinct #3 with the quality and respectful services.

Please identify a major issue dealing with the position you are seeking and your solutions or views about that issue. Please be as specific as possible.

One of the most important issues that we are facing, especially in the southern part of the county, is growth and how to deal with the issues that follow. The increasing population strains the resources of the sheriff's department and local law enforcement. As Constable, I would assist the sheriff's department and local law enforcement in serving our citizens. I would get involved in our community and interact with our citizens and business owners on a daily basis. I will make every effort to be available to our community and take part in keeping our community safe.

What experience qualifies you to serve in the position you seek?

I have been in law enforcement for 18 years and have been committed to a life of public service. I was a Sergeant with the Farmers Branch Police Department, where I served the past nine years. I was the Field Training Officer Commander, Assistant SWAT Commander, and oversaw the Intoxilyzer program. During my tenure at the Farmers Branch Police Department, I was named Officer of the Year in 1998, and received an award from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms as a Detective. I previously served as a Deputy Sheriff for the Wise County Sheriff's Department where I was awarded the Medal of Valor and was named Patrol Deputy of the Year in 1996. I have attended the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas' Leadership Command College and numerous other law enforcement management and supervision training programs.

If elected, what will be your most important goal?

My most important goal as Constable will be to establish positive relationships with our citizens and business owners in order to make them aware that I am available and ready to serve them at all times. A professional and responsive Constable's office will be the focus of my term as your Constable. Together we will make our community a safer place.
