Why did you decide to seek this office?

I grew up in Bridgeport and graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1990. I have long been interested in seeking political office, but have chosen law enforcement as my lifelong career. The office of Constable gives me a chance to do both. The population in Wise County is increasing at an astronomical pace. With this has come a high increase in civil process, criminal warrants, and calls for police services. I believe that now is the time for us to have a Constable who will devote the time and energy to the office that our citizens expect and deserve. This I promise to do.

Please identify a major issue dealing with the position you are seeking and your solutions or views about that issue. Please be as specific as possible.

Traditionally speaking, the office of Constable in Wise County has always been considered to be a part-time or "side job". This has been understandable in the past since the salary has been meager at best. But times are changing and the office is fast moving towards that of a full-time job with a full-time salary. If elected I intend to maintain the office of Constable as my primary occupation. I am not a business owner or employee in the private sector looking to hold the Constable's Office as a secondary or part-time job. I am a career law enforcement officer who will hold the office as my primary employment. I will be accessible to our citizens and visible in our communities. I have established a good relationship with the Wise County Sheriff's Office and our other local law enforcement agencies, and will maintain that relationship. I will assist our local police officials in any way possible. I will work closely with the Justice of the Peace to expedite the service of civil process, criminal warrants, and serve as court bailiff.

What experience qualifies you to serve in the position you seek?

I currently have fourteen (14) years experience as a full-time paid peace officer in the State of Texas. Thirteen of these years have been served at the county level. I am currently employed as a patrol sergeant with the Wise County Sheriff's Department. I was formerly employed as a Lieutenant with the Denton County Sheriff's Department. I hold an Advanced Peace Officers License and have experience working in patrol, administration, crime prevention, and special services. I have training and experience in civil process, criminal warrants, and tactical operations. I am also a certified Crime Prevention Inspector and Police Instructor. I am also an active member of the community, serving as a Captain with the Runaway Bay Volunteer Fire Department, Post Advisor to the Wise County Law Enforcement Explorers, member of the Bolivar Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M., and member of the Bridgeport Lions Club.

If elected, what will be your most important goal?

If elected, I will be an active member of our law enforcement community. I will provide a vital link between our community and law enforcement through increased support of the Wise Eyes Program. I will focus my energies to the office of Constable and provide our citizens and communities with quality service, accessibility, and respect.
