There have been some solid performances turned by the Northwest High School girls' golf team this season as well as the fall. However, last weekend was not one of them as the group struggled in the warm but breezy conditions.
Despite not having team members finish in the top 10, the Lady Texans still finished in the middle of the pack of the largest tournament so far this season. They posted a two-day team score of 734 to finish 12th out of 24 schools at the Vanesa Close Invitational at Bridlewood Golf Course.
Julia Danesfar has the best showing of the tournament for Northwest by finishing 11th overall with a 159. The senior scored an 83 in the first round and dropped seven strokes on the second day with a 76.
Courtney Huppert, who will be playing at the college level next year, was second for the Lady Texans with a 174. She carded a 93 in the opening round and closed with an 81.
Gen Zulueta was third for Northwest at 200. She posted a 96 and closed with a 104.
Courtney Williams struggled during the first round where she posted a 105. She bounced back in the final with a 96 for a 204 total.
