The Bridgeport High School baseball team has a little work to do in its final three games of district play. The group dropped two games last week to fall one game behind Decatur for the third and final playoff spot.

The most important game of the week was at home against Argyle. Two errors led to three unearned runs for the Eagles who held on to edge Bridgeport 7-5.

The Bulls trailed 6-2 after five innings before making things a little more interesting. James Kilpatrick and Cameron Green helped score three runs in the last two at-bats before falling short.

Bridgeport had to battle from behind all night as Argyle posted three runs in the top of the first inning. BHS answered with two in the bottom half of the frame to make it 3-2 but could never pull ahead as it was held scoreless for the next five innings.

Corbin Green had the biggest hit of the day when he ripped a double in a 2-for-4 night at the plate. Kilpatrick had two hits and scored three times to lead the offense.

Dustin Krebs, Colter Henderson and Daniel Bryant also had base hits.

Cameron Green took the loss on the mound despite allowing just four hits in six innings while striking out seven.

In a non-district game on Saturday in Castleberry, Bridgeport built a five-run lead but could not hold on late in a 9-6 loss. The Lions scored seven runs in the last two innings to shock BHS.

The Bulls, who led 6-1 after four at-bats, were led by Corbin Green who finished with two hits, two stolen bases and three runs scored.

He also took the loss for Bridgeport as he surrendered three earned runs in the sixth inning. The Lions took the lead with a home run.
