Anthony L. Markham
1943-2008
Funeral for Anthony L. Markham, 64, of West Point, Utah, formerly of Decatur, was April 11 at Lindquist Heights Memorial Park in Ogden, Utah. Markham died Monday, April 7, 2008, in Ogden. Born Aug. 30, 1943, in Grand Prairie to Lloyd and Ava Toten Markham, he married Vicki Garrett March 20, 1975, in Elko, Nev. He served with the U.S. Army's 228 Assault Helicopter Squadron in 1965 in Vietnam, flying between 80 and 100 missions and receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal. He then worked for the U.S. Air Force, serving in Vietnam in 1971. He flew more than 100 combat missions and earned five air medals. He retired from the military in 1981 and then retired in 2004 from 20 years of government service. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Roddy J. Hillan. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Anthony Lloyd Markham Jr. and wife, Heidi, of South Ogden and Robert Anthony Markham of West Point; three daughters, Cynthia A. Stenquist and husband, Cary, of Nixa, Mo., Ava M. Strebel and husband, Daniel, of North Ogden and Nicole D. Gibbs and husband, Stephen, of Fort Worth; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Lonnie Ray Markham of Houston.
