J.W. Pinkerton
1919-2008
Funeral service for J. W. Pinkerton, 88, was to be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Chapel. Rick Ross was to officiate with Bill Hughes and Jack Urbec to assist. Pinkerton, a retired city tax assessor collector and municipal judge and life long resident of Decatur, died Sunday, April 6. Born Dec. 28, 1919, in Decatur to John and Virginia Pinkerton, he married Edna Belle Lee on June 15, 1940, in Fort Worth. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a member of the Decatur Rotary Club and a deacon at Decatur Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Lovejoy. He is survived by his wife; daughters, Jackie Hughes and husband, Bill, of Decatur, and Janice Urbec and husband, Jack, of Branson, Mo.; grandchildren, Bobby Hughes and wife, KaSondra, of Decatur, Ronnie Hughes and wife, Frances, of Decatur and Christie Lay and husband, Mike, of Issaquah, Wash.; four great-grandchildren, Courtney Hughes, Chelsea Hughes, Kendall Lay and Cody Hughes; and a sister, Josie Brown of Seymour.
