Pixie Mae Slayton

Funeral for Pixie Mae Slayton, 82, of Chico was Monday, May 5, at Hawkins Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gary Sessions officiating. Burial was at Bethel Cemetery.

She died Tuesday, April 29, 2008.

Born Sept. 30, 1925, in Postell, N.C., to Jasper and Bonnie (Allen) Payne, she married Ted Slayton Oct. 27, 1941, in Dallas. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter, Veta Nebaker.

She is survived by her daughters, Theda Dewitt of Yerington, Nev., Mary Diane Myrick and husband, Gary, of Riverside, Calif., and Janice Frisby of Chico; sons, David Slayton and wife, Rada, of Shreveport, La., and Richard Slayton of Riverside; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Smith and Mary Townsend; a brother, Harold Payne; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Gary Myrick, Gary Myrick II, Jeremy Flowers, Steve Hammonds, Richard Slayton and David Slayton.
