Odessa Cox

1923-2008

Funeral for Odessa Cox, 84, of Alvord was Tuesday, May 6, at the First Baptist Church in Alvord with the Revs. Percy Parrish and Bill Cleveland officiating. Burial was in Montague Cemetery.

Born Oct. 16, 1923, in Solona Community in Montague to Elijah Sherman and Anna Mae Cornelison, she married H.J. "Jack" Cox Oct. 31, 1939, in Waurika, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Raymond Cox; granddaughter, Allison; great-grandson, Brogan; brothers, Upton, Leon, Cecil and Edward Cornelison; sisters, Reba Green, Mallie Gaskins and Evelyn Wadsworth.

She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Bennett and Phyllis Parker and husband, James, of Alvord; son, Gary Cox and wife, Nancy, of Alvord; sisters, Jean Vanbebber and JoAnn Johnson of Bowie; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Deroy Bennett, Randy Hamilton, Kenny Batchelor, Robert Davila, Scotty Batchelor and Harley Davila.
