Carl David Shawn of Runaway Bay recently announced his candidacy for the Precinct 4 constable.
Shawn is running on the Republican ticket.
"There is no better place to live than right here in Wise County," Shawn said in a press release. "The way the community is growing, there are a great many people beginning to find this out, and beginning to make Wise County their home. This county has always been good to me and my family, so I feel it is time to return the favor and again serve the citizens of this great place."
Shawn has previously served on the Bridgeport city council and served as Bridgeport's director of public works.
He has also owned and operated several businesses in the area.
"I believe the best way to ensure that Wise County remains a thriving, prosperous and safe pace to live is for there to be open communication between its citizens, elected officials and all law enforcement agencies," he said. "Because of the rapid growth we are experiencing, it is very important that the next constable be accessible and highly visible in the area, forming a solid relationship with all citizens."
Shawn is a licensed peace officer in the state of Texas.
He has been married to his wife Connie for 36 years. They have two children and two grandchildren.
Shawn is facing Kevin Huffman and Gary Emmert in the March primary.
Joe W. Gilliand (D), the incumbent Precinct 4 constable, did not file to run again. The winner of the Republican primary for Precinct 4 constable will run unopposed in the November election.
