An accident Saturday morning on Texas 101 resulted in severe injuries for a Springtown woman.
Jennifer Foster, 25, was northbound about two miles north of Bridgeport when she struck a tractor-trailer attempting to turn into the northbound lanes just after 6 a.m.
"Witnesses say the truck was stopped at the crossover intersection and pulled out," said Department of Public Safety Trooper Chris Markin, adding that witnesses stated the truck's lights were not on. "The SUV saw it at the last minute and swerved right. The SUV struck the rear axle of the trailer."
Foster was flown to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth and is in stable condition. The driver of the truck, Paul Nelson, 75, of Bowie, had no injuries.
The northbound lanes were blocked for about an hour, Markin said. Nelson was issued a citation for failing to yield the right-of-way.
