Decatur Mayor Joe Lambert said Tuesday that he would seek reelection in the May 3 municipal elections.
Lambert has been mayor for six years and prior to that served on the city council for four years. He is seeking his fourth term as mayor and under city charter term limits, it will be the final time he can seek reelection to the city's top position.
"I would love to continue to work on the Weatherford College new campus project for another two years," Lambert said. He serves along with Bridgeport Mayor Don Majka, County Judge Bill McElhaney and other business and civic leaders on the committee working on the Weatherford College project.
"I have also gotten involved in the Committee on Aging through the North Central Texas Council of Governments and would like to continue that work," he said.
Lambert is also involved in several transportation related issues, including membership in "Tex 21" a regional lobbying group to secure more highway funding for the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including Wise County.
He serves on the Tarrant Regional Transportation Coalition along with representatives from Tarrant, Hood, Johnson, Parker and Wise counties.
Lambert represents the city on the Decatur Economic Development Corporation board of directors.
