Bridgeport ISD superintendent Eddie Bland briefly discussed the first facilities planning committee meeting at Thursday's school board meeting, recommending that the school board members contract with an architectural firm in order to facilitate the committee's next task.
"At the meeting, we covered projected assessed value growth and projected development growth," Bland said. "At the next meeting we'll talk about current facilities. I would like to have an architect present, between now and that time we need to choose an architect."
Bland suggested that district staff narrow potential firms to three and allow them each a 15 minute presentation at the board's April 21 meeting.
In other business, the board approved district teaching contract renewals and new teacher contracts, as well as proposed non-renewals and terminations.
On a separate item, the board got a sneak peek at a letter from Bland set to go out to football season ticket holders on Friday. The letter explains that season ticket holders will be required to pay full price for reserved section season football tickets for the 2008 football season. The reserved seats are $8 per game.
In the letter, Bland explains that the new policy will address the long waiting list for reserved seating tickets at the stadium by eliminating the distribution of reduced-price or complimentary tickets in the section.
