Filing deadline for May elections is Monday

Filings continued this week for candidates seeking election in May to school boards and city councils. The filing deadline is Monday, March 10.

The following seats are up for election in 2008 with incumbents listed and who has filed:

School boards

Bridgeport School Board - Place 6 (Ken Kilpatrick's seat) and Place 7 (Gaylord Kennedy's seat); Ken Kilpatrick filed to run again for Place 6; Marti Hines has filed for Place 7.

Decatur School Board - Place 3 (Alan White) and Place 4 (Mike McQuiston); White has filed for re-election. Mari Keller filed paperwork to run for McQuiston's seat.

Northwest school board - Three at-large places, Place 6 (Davis Palmer), Place 5 (Lynn Gamron), Place 7 (vacant); Joe Montero of Justin filed to run for Northwest ISD school board in place 5; Davis Palmer has filed for re-election in Place 6.

Paradise school board ­- Place 3 (Ren Young), Place 4 (Carrie Cleveland Preather) and Place 5 (Debbie Baber); Kevin Howerton filed to run for Place 3, Carrie Cleveland Preather has field for Place 4 and Rusty Ford filed to run for Place 5.

Alvord School Board - Place 6 (Eddie Hale), place 7 (Calvin Baker); Calvin Baker has filed for re-election in place 7.

Boyd School Board - Place 1 (Dennis Tidwell), Place 2 (Pam Galloway) and Place 3 (Sheril Rodgers-Tidwell)

Chico School Board - Place 4 (Mark Tate), Place 7 (Craig Moss) and Place 6 (Greta McDaniel); Mike Maddux has filed to run for Place 4. Audie Morris has filed to run for Place 4. Mark Tate has decided to run for Place 6 and Craig Moss has refiled for Place 7.

Slidell - Since the community is not a municipality, the school will hold their election in the general election years in November; Places 5 (Tim Fletcher), 6 (Steve Pruett) and 7 (Brian Moore), are set to expire Nov. 8. Candidates must wait until summer before they can start filing.

City Councils

Decatur - Mayor (Joe Lambert), Place 1 (Randy Parker), Place 3 (Tim Murphy) and Place 5, at-large (Eddie Sampler). Lambert, Parker and Murphy have filed for re-election. Jay Davidson has filed for Place 5.

Rhome - Two at-large seats, currently held by Patty Robinson and Jesus Valdez, and the mayor, currently Mark Lorance; Lorance and city council members David Wilson and Brandon Davis have filed to run for mayor. Derry Shannon Jones Jr. has filed to run for city council. Gerry McBride has filed to run for city council. Patty Robison has filed to run for re-election for the seat she currently holds. Jesus Valdez filed to run for reelection for the seat he currently holds on the city council.

Chico -Three at-large seats, currently held by J.D. Clark, Karen Garrison and Sue Manning. All three are two-year terms. A one-year unexpired term, currently vacant, will also be on the ballot. Karen Garrison has filed to run for a full term (she had the one-year unexpried term). J.D. Clark has filed for reelection for two-year-term. Fletta Barrett has to filed for one of the unexpired terms.

New Fairview - Three at-large seats currently held by Curtis Kent, Mike Georgia and John Dunlap; Kent and Georgia have filed for re-election.

Bridgeport - Mayor (Don Majka), Place 1 (Scott Cheves) and Place 2 (Al Scott); Don Majka has filed for re-election. Scott Cheves and Al Scott have filed for re-election in Bridgeport City Council places 1 and 2, respectively.

Lake Bridgeport - Mayor (Doug Dunlap) and two council members (Lucy Slaten and Jim Kohnert)

Paradise - Place 1 (Ted Foster), Place 2 (Pauline Shannon) and Place 3 (Vonda Everhart); Pauline Shannon has filed for relection.

Alvord - Place 3 (Dwight Sherwood), Place 4 (Malcolm Hardy) and Place 5 (Marvin Porter); Dwight Sherwood has refiled for Place 3. Malcolm Hardy has refiled for Place 4.

Boyd - Place 1 (R.T. Brooks), Place 3 (Harry Towler, appointed to fill vacancy) and Place 5 (Lenard Reynolds); Reynolds has refiled for Place 5. R. T. Brooks has refiled for Place 1.

Newark - Place 1 (Bonnie Neal), Place 2 (Jerry Davidson) and Place 3 (Lucille Drain); Bonnie J. Neal has filed. Jerry Davidson has refiled for Place 2.

Runaway Bay - Mayor (A.L. Jowitt) and two at-large council seats (Lee Braun and Robert Ryan); Jowett has refiled for mayor and Ryan has refiled.

Aurora - Ward I (Bill McCurdy), Ward II (Joe Smith) and Ward III (Jason Brummal).
