Youth Fair 2008: FFA Queen Contestants

Ishley Elmore

Decatur FFA will be represented by Ishley Elmore, 16, of Decatur in this year's queens contest.

She is the daughter of Rick and Bethany Elmore of Decatur.

Ishley is involved in FFA, FCA, SADD, Art Club and Friends of Rachel.

Her favorite hobbies are restoring tractors, showing pigs, lambs, heifers and steers all over the state, dancing for the Decatur High School Spanish Club Flamenco Dance Team, hanging out with friends, texting and talking on the phone.

She was FFA chapter advisor her sophomore year and is currently serving as sentinel. She is also the District I FFA president.

Ishley is a member of the National Champion Tractor Restoration Team and was a national finalist as an individual in tractor restoration in 2006.

She is a two time state qualifier in range, earned third place in state for nursery landscape and was a state qualifier for Star Greenhand and Star Chapter.

She is a member of the Spanish National Honor Society.

Ishley says she has made close friends throughout the state, as well as the nation, through her involvement with FFA. Her best friends are her sisters, Becca and Heather. She enjoys hanging out with her tractor restoration teammates, as well as Sarah and Saphire. Her favorite subject is math and she enjoys watching basketball and baseball.

Laci Terrelll

Laci Terrell, 17, of Decatur will represent Bridgeport FFA in this year's queens contest.

She is the daughter of Tricia Terrell and the granddaughter of Vickie Holmes.

Laci's hobbies include scrapbooking and showing steers and heifers. She is FFA chapter president and district officer. Her other hobbies include water sports and hanging out with friends. Laci's favorite subject is history. She is a member of the Junior National Main and Sha Association.

She is a member of the First Baptist Church of Decatur and goes on youth group mission trips with them. She is an active member of the Wise County 4-H.

Her other activities include livestock judging, the Spanish Club and the Bridgeport FFA.

Laci's favorite foods are Mexican and steak. Her favorite colors are pink and black. Her favorite movie is "Top Gun" because it is the "best movie ever." Laci has numerous friends.

Her favorite quote is "Strive to be the best you can be and always keep your faith."

Kimberly Kuykendall

Kimberly Kuykendall, 17, of Boyd, will represent Boyd High School FFA at this year's queens contest.

She is the daughter of Patrick and Christy Kuykendall.

Kimberly's favorite hobbies are outdoor activities such as fishing and gardening. She also enjoys shopping and arts and crafts activities.

She belongs to FFA, Explorers and the National Honors Society.

Her interests including working with young children, volunteering, serving as an explorer and doing community service.

Her best friend is Katie Randolph, and she has known her since she was 8 years old. They are both fun-loving people and know how to make each other laugh. They also have the same hobbies and interests.

Kimberly enjoys friendly games of paint ball, volleyball and softball. She also enjoys swimming.

Her favorite two subjects are English and government.

She does community service through the Explorer program, which includes helping the Salvation Army, helping with Special Olympics and directing traffic at big events.

Sarah Kaz

Sarah Kaz, 18, of Paradise will represent Paradise FFA in the 2008 queens contest.

She is the daughter of Mike and Emilie Kaz of Paradise.

Sarah has held positions as FFA chapter advisor, reporter, district representative and president. She has also served as vice president of the sophomore class, junior class president and senior class secretary. She is currently serving a term as the student council president.

Sarah is involved in Drama Club, her church youth group, mission committee, welcoming committee and World Changers Mission Fuge/Centrifuge.

She was named as Star Chapter Farmer, Star Greenhand, basketball defensive MVP, Most School Spirited, honorable mention actress, All-star Cast and Best Actress.

Her interests include theater, politics, child development and World Wide Missions.

Her favorite subject is history. Sarah's best friends are Jessica Wood and Ishley Elmore.

Megan Cantrell

Megan Cantrell, 16, of Chico, will represent Chico FFA in this year's queens contest.

She is the daughter of Kim Cantrell of Chico.

Megan's favorite hobbies are showing sheep, hanging out with friends, judging livestock and shopping.

The club offices she has held include Greenhand officer; FFA Chapter officer for two years, including a term as president this year; junior director for the Texas Junior Livestock Association for six years and FFA district officer.

Megan's previous honors include Grand Champion Lamb Wise County Youth Fair 2006; Reserve Champion Lamb Wise County Youth Fair 2007; Intermedia Showmanship Champion in TCLA; First runner up TJLA Queens Contest; Top Ten in TCLA for eight years and winning Reserve Grand Champion Lamb at the State Fair of Texas this past October.

Her interests are showing lambs and livestock judging. She has too many friends to pick just one.

Megan's favorite subject is English.

She belongs to the Wise County 4-H, the Chico FFA and the TJLA.

Megan is a member of Cundiff Baptist Church.
