The county's first elections administrator has quit just weeks before voting is to begin for the March primaries.
County Judge Bill McElhaney said late Friday that he had received an e-mail from County Clerk Sherry Parker-Lemon stating that Elections Administrator Glen Moore had offered a letter of resignation. McElhaney said he had not seen the actual letter, so he did not know what reason was given for the resignation.
Moore was hired by a five-person commission in November for the newly created position.
For the past 18 years, Parker-Lemon has served as elections administrator for the county. Last summer, she requested that commissioners create a separate elections administrator position due to increased responsibilities of the elections administrator position.
