Recycling begins Wednesday

Beginning Wednesday, May 7, Decatur will be added to the list of Wise County cities that offer recycling services.
More than 2,000 65-gallon carts were delivered to homes in Decatur last week.
For pickup, recycling carts must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on Wednesdays.
The handle must face the residence and the cart must be a minimum of three feet away from any other objects.
Regular trash pickup remains the same.
Acceptable recycling items include:
- plastics numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 (the number is usually located on the bottom of plastic containers) - all colors of glass - aluminum and metal cans - newspapers, junk mail and catalogs - paper bags - cardboard
Non-acceptable items:
- aluminum foil, packing peanuts, pizza boxes, styrofoam, - aerosol cans, paints, solvents, thinners, - rubber hoses, pool chemicals, plate glass, mirrors, plastic toys, - furniture, household items, diapers, ceramic cookware, - waxed juice or milk cartons, - propane and helium tanks, - automobile parts and products, - garden fertilizers and pesticides, - hardback books and solid paper goods.

Flyers on recycling instructions can be picked up at city hall or the public works building.
