One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Texas 114 and FM 51 south Monday afternoon.

Trooper Jeff Johnson said slippery roads may have been to blame for the accident, which sent James Wigington, 35, of Gordon to Wise Regional Health System in Decatur with a mild concussion.

Wigington was northbound on FM 51 and attempting to turn left onto westbound Texas 114 when he lost control of his vehicle and ended up in the eastbound lane of 114. Andrea Ishmael, 40, of Paradise was eastbound and was unable to avoid Wigington, hitting his truck.

Ishmael was uninjured in the accident.

Traffic on the two roads was snarled for about an hour as crews worked to clean up the scene.

It was the second accident of the day at that intersection. A two-vehicle accident at about 9:30 a.m. also slowed traffic at the intersection. No injuries were reported in the morning accident.
