Kindergarten registration, and in some cases pre-kindergarten, is now taking place at several local school districts.
Parents registering their child should bring shot records, a birth certificate, Social Security number and proof of residency. Some schools also require a driver's license and proof of income if registering in the pre-kindergarten or Head Start program.
Kindergarten students must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, and pre-kindergarten students must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 and meet income eligibility standards and/or must be unable to speak and comprehend the English language. A child with a current full-time military parent also qualifies for the Pre-K program.
