Two people were injured in a Tuesday morning accident on northbound U.S. 81/287 at the Texas 114 exit in Rhome.

The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. at a time of heavy rainfall in the area.

Rhome Police Officer J. Douglas said a southbound truck crossed the median and veered into the northbound lanes, colliding with a passenger car, with the vehicles coming to rest at the on-ramp for westbound Texas 114.

The truck was carrying three passengers, including two children in the back. The female passenger was taken to Harris Methodist Hospital. The driver of the passenger car, a Saginaw police officer, was also transported to a hospital. Both were extricated from the vehicles.

No other injuries were reported.

No other information on the accident was available at press time.

The brief but heavy storms dumped up to an inch of rain in parts of Wise County Tuesday morning.
