Huffman to run for Precinct 4 constable

Kevin Huffman has announced his candidacy for Wise County Constable, Precinct 4 in the March Republican Primary.
"The position of constable is a vital link between our community and local law enforcement. I will use my many years of training, experience and commitment to provide quality law enforcement services to the citizens of Precinct 4," Huffman said. "My goal is to be highly visible in the community and completely accessible to all citizens."
Huffman has more than 14 years of full-time experience as a peace officer, 13 of those at the county level. He has been employed with the Wise County Sheriff's Department for a total of nine years and currently serves as a sergeant in the patrol division.
Huffman also served with the Wise County Sheriff's Department as crime prevention officer, warrants and civil officer and was the department's first traffic enforcement officer.
"As Constable, I will cooperate with all other local and state agencies and work hard to make the position an effective link in the chain of law enforcement services. My top priority is to make Wise County a safer place to live for our families," Huffman said.
Huffman is a native of Wise County. He attended school in Bridgeport, graduating high school in 1990. In 1993 he attended the Weatherford College Police Academy, and he currently holds an Advanced Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.
Huffman has received training in the service of civil process, supervision, crime prevention, SWAT and sniper operations. He is a certified instructor in police operations, firearms and chemical weapons, and he holds a certification as a crime prevention inspector.
He is a member of the Bolivar Masonic Lodge AF&AM and the Bridgeport Lions Club and is an advisor with the Boy Scouts of America in their Wise County Law Enforcement Explorer Post Program. Huffman and his fiancée, Susan Hoelscher, live in Runaway Bay and serve as members of the Runaway Bay Fire Department. They plan to marry in October.
"Wise County is my home and home to many of my family members. I want to do my part in helping make Wise County a safe place for your family as well as mine," Huffman said.
