I found Ken Hughes' editiorial "States aren't so united after all" very inspiring. My family on my father's side came to America in 1736 because of religious persecution. My daughter-in-law's family came for the same reason, religious persecution. Since the beginning, all throughout our country's history, many have followed the hopes and dreams of living in a land where they could worship God with complete freedom of religion and the right to express their faith without persecution from the state.
I am so thankful that I live in a country where we have freedom of religion, where Christians have the privilege and the responsibility to vote in our elections and to vote for those whom they feel will represent their values. Since we can influence the outcome of our elections, we, as followers of Christ, should be those who are first in line to vote.
What America really needs in these modern times is a spiritual awakening that far exceeds the great Evangelical movement of the Civil War.
America's religious beliefs count, and they count greatly. Thank the Lord for "In God We Trust." If we ever forget that, America will loose that which is most precious to us as a nation.
