On behalf of the Wise County Tax Appraisal District Board of Directors, we would like to thank Mickey Hand and his staff for their quick thinking and management response of water damage to the Appraisal building that occurred March 10.
We also wish to express our gratitude to the city of Decatur for providing shelter to the county facility so that there was minimal inconvenience to our citizens. The inter-local collaboration efforts of both entities speak volumes for the city and the Appraisal District employees.
This was a classic example of public service at its finest.
No matter how great a plan is to respond to this type of an emergency, no one can anticipate the multitude of problems and issues that are created by such a major incident.
Mr. Hand, Ms. Deaton and the other dedicated employees have shown what a professional team can achieve in a very short span of time. They made it look almost painless.
Mr. Hand kept the directors informed of all stages of repairs and personally oversaw improvements that we believe will make the appraisal office more user friendly for our taxpayers.
This experience had been an eye-opener, but for those who were at ground level it has proven the dedication and hard work of all involved.
We thank you for going the extra mile.
