Joe Duty, award-winning photographer for the Wise County Messenger, is teaching an eight-week course, Photojournalism 1, at the Weatherford College Decatur Education Center.
The eight-week course will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays.
The continuing education class is for people of all ages who already know how to use their cameras.
"I like to call this backyard photojournalism," said Duty, who has won numerous state and national awards for his photography. "This is not a basic photography class but rather photojournalism from a small community newspaper perspective."
Duty will teach techniques needed in order to tell a story.
"My goal at the end of the class is to have each student find that they enjoy shooting, that they understand a little more how to shoot and be able to tell a story in the simplest form possible," said Duty.
Four field trips are planned where students will put to use the knowledge they have learned in the classroom. Three guest speakers will also be part of the class.
