Building totals increase

Several major commercial projects boosted the January building permit totals in Decatur to almost $11.8 million.

Heading the list was the $4.25 million Senior Care Health and Rehabilitation facility on West Benett Road, off FM 51 South.

Other major projects included the $2.6 million LaQuinta Inn & Suites on S. U.S. 81/287, $2.5 million Hampton Inn on S. U.S. 81/287 and the $1.5 million First Financial Bank on West Hale St.

Other commercial projects included the new Wise Regional Health System Dialysis Center on S. FM 51, $700,000; BMG Auto, S. Terrell St., $45,000 and Wise Chem Pest Control addition and remodel on West Thompson, $285,000.

New residential permits and their square footage included East Pecan St., 1,714, $105,000; Hidden Springs, 3,870, $285,000 and Owl Drive, 2,712, $173,208.

Commercial remodeling projects amounted to $384,252 and residential remodeling totaled $74,940.
