Workforce Solutions names new director

Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas has selected David Setzer as the new executive director. Mr. Setzer officially took over this position on Nov. 12 after serving as its operations manager for two years.

Setzer is a long-time North Texas resident. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 2001 after 30 years of service. From 1994-1999, he served as a city council member for Midlothian, and in 1999, Setzer was elected mayor of Midlothian. He served as the city's mayor for six years. Prior to joining Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas, he was the purchasing agent for Ellis County.

"I am glad to have the opportunity to lead such a dynamic organization. I believe that my previous experience in the private and public sectors will assist me in leading this talented group of individuals and implementing progressive initiatives to meet the changing workforce needs in the North Central Texas region," said Setzer.

Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas is one of 28 local workforce boards throughout the state. With a budget of more than $50 million, the board serves Collin, Denton, Ellis, Erath, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Navarro, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell and Wise counties. The primary goal of the workforce board is to meet the needs of Texas employers through locally designed, market driven workforce development initiatives and services. All employers, workers and job seekers are eligible to take advantage of these services.
