“Outlander” secured

gabaldon_outlander

Yippee! Thanks to a friend and faithful reader, I now have a copy of “Outlander” to read.

Okay, I’m going to do this one more time. I will put down “Backyard Giants” so I can finish “Outlander” in time for my book club meeting March 3. But I vow to return to the gargantuan gourds. It will not go unfinished like so many others before it.

But enough babbling about me.

What are you guys reading? Anything good?

I just finished Homepun Bride by Jillian Hart. It was heart warming but predictable. It was free at the kindle store and that seemed good at the time. Set in Montana in the 1800′s with the main character Noelle struggling with loss and tragedy. It ended happily. Somedays I would tell you that is what I’m looking for in a book but I think now I think I’m ready for a story that will totally engulf me.

Just finished “Shutter Island” by Dennis Lehane. I did not want the movie release to spoil it for me. It’s a great book. Mr. Lehane did “Gone, Baby Gone” too. His characters are impressive.

Dixie, I like something like “Homespun Bride” sometimes, too. My go-to is usually Nicholas Sparks, though. After “The Notebook,” everything else has been a little predictable, but enjoyable, easy reads. Let me know when you find something that totally engulfs you. I need the same thing.

Thanks for the comment, Paul. I need to brush up on my Dennis Lehane. I’ve seen the movies made from his books but have yet to read them. My sister loves them and has been encouraging me to read them for a while. I didn’t realize he wrote “Shutter Island,” though. I’ll have to check it out.

Love Dennis Lehane! “Darkness Take My Hand” is probably my favorite.

Hey, Jennifer! I haven’t heard of that one, but maybe I should read it first.

It is the second book in the detective series he wrote. There are five total. The first one is “A Drink Before the War”. “Gone Baby Gone” is the fourth one. I’ve read them all but “Gone Baby Gone”. They were all really good!

Jennifer, which book best develops Dennis Lehane’s “Angie” character? I read a review that mentions her mob relatives and more. I want to read a Patrick/Angie story, but not all five.
