Yesterday was a pretty slow day. I spent the day with my family looking at more Indian ruins, and resting up for the next’s day’s rodeo. This morning I had to wake up super early so I could get to the rodeo in time to get everything ready. I didn’t run too good this time. I hit a pole adding 5 seconds to my time. It was a little disappointing but I’ll do better next time. CJ rides tonight so ill find out how he did in the morning. I know he will do great! This week was so much fun! I’m so glad I was able to compete here!

Today was competition day. I went to the rodeo this morning to watch
CJ ride. He had a little tough luck this go round. I’m sure that his
next run will be better. The rest of the day my family spent sight
seeing at a close by town. We went to Aztec to see the Indian ruins
there. It’s had to believe that people could have lived in there
once. After sight seeing , we headed back to the arena to get ready
for the night’s rodeo.
As soon as I got my horse Rooster out of his stall, it started
pouring down rain. I was so worried that I was going to have to run in
the rain. Luckily it stopped right before the rodeo. I ran a time of
20.4! It put me in 19th for the round. As soon as I was done running,
I rushed back to my cousin’s house in Blanco, to get ready for cowboy
prom. Cowboy prom is a dance where all the girls put on formal dresses
and cowboy boots!
I went with CJ and we had a blast!

Things are starting to slow down for all of us here in Farmington. All the craziness of getting settled in is begining to come to a end. I’m having so much fun! I love getting to meet all of the other kids from all over the county. Some of the kids I’m meeting are from out of the country! There are kids here from Canada and even Australia! Two of our wise county boys did a awesome job this morning. In the team roping Jake Cobb of Decatur, and his partner Ethan Fox of Bonham, Texas roped well and ended up with a time of 13.735 putting them in 11th for this mornings round. Chris Demases of Boyd did a awesome job in the tie down roping with a time of 11.463 putting him in 2nd for the same round. It’s still early in the game and Wise County is doing a great job! I know me and CJ can keep it going tomorrow! Other than that today was pretty laid back. I’m trying to rest up for tomorrow so I can give it my all.

It’s day two at the national high school rodeo finals. I met up with CJ at the team meeting this morning. We had fun kidding around with all the other Texas contestant. CJ was trying to get me to count all the rodeo queens we saw with him so he could keep up with how many girls he needed to go talk to C= to bad for him I wasn’t much help. At the meeting they told us there are 1,490 contents competing here this week! I will competing against about 165 of those people…yeah no presser right? The first rodeo was tonight so I had to go watch my compotation. I saw the fastest time in the pole bending that I have ever seen before! The time was 19.78 seconds! Most girls run mostly 20 or 21 second runs, and half a second can make the difference of placing or not. This is going to be a awesome rodeo!….CJ competes first thing in the morning and I compete tomorrow night! I know we are going to do awesome!

Wow! is probably the best word to sum up my last two days. It started out Sunday morning even before bright and early. We were “supposed” to have everything packed and loaded the night before so that we could just wake up at 4 a.m. put the horse in the trailer and head out, but we all know how that ends up. An hour later than planned to leave, we are off to New Mexico. The trip was long and boring. It took us about fifteen hours in all to get all there. We would stop and get Rooster out about every four hours or so….oh wait ! I forgot. I haven’t introduced you to Rooster yet!!. Rooster is my 15 year bay gelding. Me and Rooster have been together through it all. He was my first pony and everything I have ever won worth talking about was with Rooster.….Anyways, lucky for us we planned to get here a day early. That made checking in on Saturday morning pretty easy. If you don’t plan when to check in just right it can be worse than the line for the Titan at Six Flags on half price day, WAY worse. I would say we got pretty lucky seeing as when we got there to check in there was no line at all! Way to go Mom on that planning.! The rest of the day spent checking in and getting a feel of Farmington. I was so amazed at how pretty it is here! I have never been to this part of New Mexico and it is breath taking I don’t think I ever want to leave!
Things I’m excited about:
- My first run on Tuesday night.
- Cowboy prom.
- Meeting new people.
- Seeing Indian ruins.
- All the free stuff.
