My paper’s not late.  I just didn’t turn it in.  -a 7th grade student

Upon hearing this, I explained the definition of late as something or someone not being where it should be at a designated time.  It’s those life lessons that are so fun to teach. 

One day in a bare field, Alicia Algae met Fred Fungus and they sat down on a rock for awhile because they took a lichen to each other.  Ain’t love grand?

This one appeals to my science nerdiness, and if you are as nerdy as I am, you will laugh out loud.  And, finally….
