Remember when we would wait and wait and wait for the Great Pumpkin to come on TV before Halloween? It was one of those seasonal treasures just like trick or treating. I looked forward to seeing Charlie Brown miss the football and get all rocks in his candy bag. I always hoped Lynus WOULD see the Great Pumpkin, and people would stop calling him a Blockhead.
Tonight, I pulled out our DVD of the old classic. I have a little inner turmoil at doing that because it’s not the same as waiting and waiting and waiting for it to come on TV, but my kids seem to have the same kind of anticipation for the yearly showing. I guess their version of a Great Pumpkin tradition is watching it over and over and over instead of all the waiting and waiting and waiting.
