Sometimes the things you cannot change, end up changing you.
I love this. I often try to calm my worrying self with thoughts of “everything happens for a reason,” or, as my mom used to say, “whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” When life seems to be ganging up on me, those mantras are in the back of my mind, and just when I think something might kill me, I manage to pull through-and maybe even a little stronger to boot. So the next time I’m in the midst of crisis, I think I’ll take a minute, realize my newfound strength, and look for the way it’s changing me-for the better.
Aspire to inspire before you expire.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sunshine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Every decision you make, is not a decision about what to do; its a decision about who you are.
“How do you always hear me even when I whisper in the middle of the night?”
“I’m always listening for you-it’s a skill I learned when you were a baby.”
“Daddy doesn’t have that skill. You pretty much have to jump on his face for him to wake up.”
My paper’s not late. I just didn’t turn it in. -a 7th grade student
Upon hearing this, I explained the definition of late as something or someone not being where it should be at a designated time. It’s those life lessons that are so fun to teach.
One day in a bare field, Alicia Algae met Fred Fungus and they sat down on a rock for awhile because they took a lichen to each other. Ain’t love grand?
This one appeals to my science nerdiness, and if you are as nerdy as I am, you will laugh out loud. And, finally….

“One’s friends are that part of the human race with which one can be human.”
I absolutely love this one. When everything else seems to go wrong, it’s nice to know you have those friends to catch you when you’re down. Ok, it’s not just nice, it’s life-saving.
“Don’t be yourself, be someone a little nicer.”
American author and journalist
Credit for this one goes to my husband. How awesome would it be if we were all just a little nicer than we normally are?
Edit: This one was submitted by a friend, and I just had to post it because it makes so much sense! Think about it.
“Don’t treat people the way YOU want to be treated. Treat people the way THEY need to be treated.”
“I gave you life.” That’s my standard response for a variety of situations. So much so, that the kids nod their head knowingly when they know it’s coming, but it works with everything, I promise.
Kid 1: “But I don’t WANT to fold the laundry.”
Me: “I gave you life, can you give me folded clothes?”
Kid 2: “MOM, you ate my last GOLDFISH!”
Me: “I gave you life, can you give me one goldfish?”
Kid 3: “Do I HAVE to clean my room?”
Me: “I gave you life, can you pick up your toys?”
See? It’s a good one, don’t you think?
