I was talking to a man today about the role unions play in America when he pointed out the preamble to the constitution of the United States and how it points out the importance the union of a people plays:
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
The union of our country was formed for the general good of its people. He argued unions of workers work for the general good of that group, forcing the bosses to treat the workers fairly.
