The Wise County Messenger is holding its annual holiday baking contest.
Cooks in Wise County can win a share of $250 in prize money with their best holiday dishes.
Entries are due at the Messenger office by 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9. Winners and their recipes will be published in the Christmas Greetings section Thursday, Dec. 23.
First prize will be $100, second prize $75, third $50 and fourth $25.
Categories include pies, cakes, breads, cookies, candies and appetizers. Participants may submit one entry per category.
Judging will include taste, appearance and difficulty of recipe.
Entries should include whole pies, cakes or breads and at least a dozen cookies, candies or appetizers.
Entry should include the recipe and the cook’s name, address and phone number on a separate card.
Entries should be in disposable or non-returnable containers. Entries will not be returned.
The Messenger is located at 115 S. Trinity in Decatur, just south of the Wise County Courthouse.
