You’ve probably noticed some activity at local schools this week. Football, volleyball and marching band practices are ushering in the new school year.
Officially, students will return to school for the first day of classes in about three weeks. For many, it will be a return to a familiar place. For others, it will be a new experience.
Count me in that last group. I’ve got a kid starting kindergarten this year. We’ve already started the back to school shopping, and we’ve got more to go. In a couple of weeks, we’ll attend our first “meet the teacher” night. I’ll probably write a column or blog about the experience, since that’s what journalists do. But I’d love to hear other “first day of school” stories from readers as well when the big day comes.
Speaking of back to school, we’ll have our special back to school issue hitting news stands next week complete with school supplies and lists of back to school activities. We’ve got some story ideas we’re working on, but we’d love to have your story suggestions as well to help you get ready for this most important time of year.
