Man’s Best Friend!

November 21st, 2008

Always seem to have great luck photographing pets, particularly dogs.

haven’t quite figured out why yet, possibly they’re always so into the moment!

Or just happy to be where they’re at, well this one didn’t look too happy about the whole costume thing.

And what could be more patriotic than a poodle in a red white and blue wagon?

What could be more down-home than puppies and freckles?

need a  set in for solitaire?

Always keeping an eye out for their master!

For whatever reason, I enjoy shooting dogs immensely. The only advice I can give when shooting dogs, for that matter any pets as well as kids, be ready, know your camera, and keep it within arms reach, because being in the moment means being ready for it!

Eddie’s space

November 17th, 2008

Met Eddie Soloway couple years ago at Santa Fe workshop, he was teaching a class called natural eye, and what a class it was! We went to the mountains,

we went to the desert

Eddie  has a truly unique way of seeing things, not only is he one of the world’s foremost nature photographers, he has a great gift at sharing his knowledge as a teacher. Into abstract nature?, check out Eddie’s new blog Natural Eye I’msure you won’t be disappointed.

A new look!

November 16th, 2008

Annual messenger  Halloween shoot went fantastic for the fourth year!  Shot 60 kids in just over two hours.

to keep things interesting,  thought I would go for something new this year.

This is cool hair with the grunge look !

This had to be one of my favorites,  Hard contrasty lighting through a 6 foot soft box, with the 300  effect. All shots were made in the studio with a black background, one light camera right so as not to spill on the background,  light added on the fly through grids on camera left, overhead, and spotted on the background. On The Last Shot All Four Were Used As Well As A Reflector from the Bottom.

Reflect Thyself!

Is it  possible to have your subject light itself?

Well in this case it was. The majority of the fill came from a large tin wall behind me and massive amounts of concrete surrounding the whole area, with the exception of a little fill  coming from a pop-up flash on camera to reduce the waterfalls shadow. Result, wall lights water, water lights waterfall, and initial light source serves as the main element in composition. In this case the superwide  worked.

Golden moments!

November 9th, 2008

I certainly had my share over the years,

whether it was laughing or crying,

high or low, excited or angry,

loss or gain,

or just the everyday little moments that make it all worth it.

The latest of the golden moments comes from a feature I was working on at Rann Elementary called the Watchdog program. Apparently the dads got together and implemented a program to spend more time with the kids, and the shot came when David Minor, met Little Miss Neighbors. They’re certainly been a lot of shots over the years, but this one grabbed me, I call it the yin and yang of human kindness.

Waiting On Snow!

With the arrival of each season comes the anticipation of what it will bring, and how I can portray it differently.

BeachFront Property!

You know sometimes it’s hard to tell if I’m coming or going.

But you know, if your on the beach doesn’t really matter, time stands still, at are least till the tide comes in.

Time Changed!

November 6th, 2008

Daylight savings time ending quite simply means I get to see the sunset earlier!

I might still actually be up when it sets!

Abstract? A tad!

Okay, so glass door and peagravel don’t mix! Moral; if you’re weedeating  make sure you cover the glass!

But you know, the glass is already busted and there’s nothing I can do about that, so let’s make a cool photo!

Time for a change!

November 2nd, 2008

As daylight savings time ends and the days become shorter,  nature struggles to hang on to its last breath of the year.
