We are in the last-week stretch of the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. The market steers and barrows are in the barns, and the educational exhibits for adults and youth are still in full swing.

It's that time of year again: Stock Show season! Last weekend in Fort Worth, Wise County youth participated in the dairy goat show, longhorn show and the goat judging contest.

Attention Wise County 4-H members: the deadline is fast approaching to sign up for 4-H to be eligible to participate in the Wise County Youth Fair. You must sign up by Dec. 31 at midnight to be eligible to show in 2011 WCYF.

Representing 24 counties, 195 boys and girls exhibited their nutritional knowledge and cooking skills at the Rolling Plains District 4-H Food Show Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Wilbarger Auditorium. Four seniors will advance to the state competition in June 2011.

Attention all Wise County 4-H'ers: The annual Wise County 4-H Awards Banquet is 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at the First Baptist Church of Decatur. Gold Star, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Farm Bureau and Danforth - I Dare You awards will be presented. Also, Club of the Year and Leader of the Year awards will be given.
