The pedestrian who was killed on U.S. 380 in front of Imperial Fabrication earlier today has been identified by investigators. Jeffrey Scheller, 27, of Decatur was killed when he apparently walked in front of an eastbound 18-wheeler at the entrance of the facility around 8:45 Thursday morning. Scheller was pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Jan Morrow. “At this point, it appears intentional,” Wise County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Craig Johnson said. “We’re conducting a joint investigation with the Department of Public Safety due to the unattended death and accident.” Johnson said from the information they’ve gathered, Scheller was an employee at Imperial and had been working just prior to the incident. Scheller’s body was sent to the Dallas County Medical Examiner for an autopsy. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured. Wise County EMS, Decatur Fire Department, DPS and the sheriff’s office responded to the scene. Funeral for Scheller is pending at Jones Family Funeral Home in Decatur.
