STABBING DEATH – A woman died Monday evening after being stabbed by an estranged boyfriend at a tanning salon in the 1000 block of Business U.S. 380 in Decatur. The murder suspect fled the scene in the victim’s car and led a pursuit from Decatur to north of Alvord. He crashed out around 8 p.m., hitting a tree in the median just north of County Road 2798 near Brushy Creek. He was flown by Air Evac Lifeteam 68 to Medical City Denton with multiple self-inflicted stab wounds and a head injury. Decatur Police Chief Rex Hoskins said the man, identified as Ronnie Brezina, 63, of Decatur confronted the woman, later identified as Brandy Wallen, 45, of Decatur, at Toast Your Bunz tanning salon. The two individuals had an altercation in the parking lot. “Apparently he chased her inside Toast Your Bunz and catches her in a room,” Hoskins said. “During the fight, he stabbed her multiple times.” Wallen was transported by ambulance to Wise Health System where she died an hour later. Brezina was in serious but stable condition Tuesday morning, Hoskins said. He said murder charges will be filed on Brezina. Officers from the Wise County Sheriff’s Office and Department of Public Safety assisted Decatur with the pursuit. U.S. 81/287 was shut down for several minutes as the medical helicopter landed on the highway. Alvord firefighters assisted with the scene. The road was reopened around 9 p.m. Hoskins said the two had been in a relationship but had broken up around Thanksgiving.
