BEE CAUSES WRECK – A young child was flown from the scene of a single-vehicle wreck yesterday evening near Alvord. The wreck happened around 6:15 p.m. on County Road 1591. Texas Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Sgt. Ricky Hunter said a Volvo passenger car was eastbound on CR 1591 when a bee flew into the vehicle and distracted the 23-year-old driver, Scarlett Psutka. The car left the roadway and struck a tree. A 2-year-old passenger was flown from the scene to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth. The child’s injuries were undisclosed.

RAIN REPORT – Yesterday’s rainfall totals included 1.1 inches in Alvord, 0.8 in Greenwood and 0.73 in Decatur. Our rain chances are low today but increase on Friday into Saturday. Today’s high is expected to be 67 degrees.

PLANT SALE – Decatur FFA will have a Mother’s Day plant sale at the DHS greenhouse on campus 1-5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday. On Friday, enter through the high school entrance at Business U.S. 81/287 by Carson Elementary. All plants were grown by DHS agriculture students. Annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, containers and much more will be offered for sale.

RETIRED EDUCATORS MEETING – Wise County Retired School Personnel will meet 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Decatur Conference Center. Officers for the 2019-20 year will be installed. RSVP to Bunny Perry, 940-575-2341 or richardperry@embarqmail.com by Sunday evening.

COALITION MEETING – The Wise County Community Coalition meets at noon Monday at Pizza Hut in Decatur. Guest speaker will be Decatur Mayor Martin Woodruff.

WREATH MAKING COURSE – Decatur Medical Lodge will host a wreath making event 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 30. Learn to make seasonal or patriotic wreaths. Cost is $35, which includes all materials, and reservations are required. Call Denise Dennis at 940-626-2800.

FISH FRY – Sycamore Baptist Church will hold a fish fry with bounce house for kids 5 p.m. Saturday. The church is located at 133 County Road 2425.

NO REPUBLICAN MEETINGS – Wise County Republicans and Wise Republican Women will not have their regularly scheduled monthly meetings in May, June or July. Visit their Facebook page (Wise Republican Party-Wise County, TX) or website www.wiserepublicans.com for information on the upcoming Spring Social on May 17. Regular second Monday meetings will resume on August 12.

SIGN UP FOR CAMP – Sonflower Camp for people with special needs is June 3, 4 and 5 from 9 a.m.-noon at Crossroad’s Church in Decatur. The group will also meet on Friday, June 7, at the Fit-N-Wise pool from noon-1 p.m. with a pizza party to follow. Campers and helpers are asked to register at www.sonflowercamp.com.

CLAY TARGET TEAM – The Decatur clay target team will hold an informational meeting for all Wise County students in grades seven through 12 at 6 p.m. today at Decatur High School.
