3 HURT IN CRASH – Three people were transported to area hospitals from a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Farm Roads 51 and 2123 Saturday. Daniel Remley, 39, of Haslet, who was the driver of a blue Honda Accord, was flown by Air Evac Lifeteam 68 to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth with serious injuries. He remained in critical condition Sunday morning. His passenger, Shannon Ruffin, 41, of Newport, Ark., was taken by ambulance to Wise Health System. The driver of a Chevrolet Cavalier, Robert Molina, 69, of Abilene was taken by ambulance to John Peter Smith. The Honda Accord was headed east on FM 2123. It ran the stop sign at FM 51 and collided with Molina’s Cavalier, according to Department of Public Safety Trooper Carson Benning. The impact caused the Accord to roll, before coming to rest on its top on the east side of FM 51. The accident occurred shortly before noon and shut down FM 51 for several minutes while the medical helicopter landed on the roadway. Traffic was limited to one lane until 1 p.m. Cottondale and Boyd firefighters along with multiple Wise County EMS ambulances responded to the crash.

FIRE QUICKLY DOUSED – Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire underneath a trailer home in the 600 block of Cemetery Road in Boyd Saturday afternoon. Wise County Fire Marshal Jeff Doughty said fire jumped from a burn barrel and went under the home. Firefighters had the blaze extinguished within two minutes with the damage limited to insulation under the trailer. Boyd, Paradise, Rhome and Newark firefighters responded to the structure fire.

WISE COUNTY CHAMBER LUNCH – The Wise County Chamber of Commerce Monthly Luncheon is 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. today at the Decatur Conference Center. This month’s topic is chamber plans for 2019 and membership perks. RSVP via email to info@wisecountychamber.com.

SCV MEETING – The Sons of Confederate Veterans meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Wesley Center of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur.

SCHOOL BOARD INFORMATION SESSION – Decatur ISD will conduct a School Board Information Session for citizens interested in running for an elected position on the board of trustees 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Administration Building, 307 S. Cates. The program will be conducted by the superintendent and representatives from the current board of trustees. The purpose is to familiarize potential candidates with the basic operation of the school district, the role of school board members and the election process. The next school board election is May 4. This informational workshop is offered at no charge to all Decatur residents who are eligible to run for a school board seat. WEIGHT MANAGEMENT CLASS – The Texas AgriLife extension is offering a Step Up Scale Down weight management class beginning Jan. 22. The program costs $40 and will span 12 weeks. Participants are encouraged to bring their lunch at the first class, which will be held from noon-1 p.m. at 206 S. State St. in Decatur. In addition to an optional weigh-in and 20-minute lesson, there will be weekly recipe tastings. If you got a new Instapot or air fryer this Christmas, the class will feature healthy meal preparation methods using the new technology as well as insights and guides to a healthier path of living during 12-week course. WARM RESUMES – Wise Area Relief Mission (WARM) returns to the office today. Volunteers and community service can return to help out today. It will open for normal food distribution at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Anyone with a green or orange food card can get their food box this week.
